May Nabhan
May Nabhan is a Beirut-based figurative sculptor whose
practice began in 2023. Self-taught and guided by
independent research, she explores clay as a medium for
emotional and physical expression. Holding a background in
interior and landscape architecture from the Lebanese
University Faculty of Fine Arts, Nabhan has developed a
sculptural language rooted in material experimentation and
intuitive form-making.
Her work centers on local and wild clay sourced across
Lebanon, alongside self-developed surface treatment
techniques created from natural, non-industrial elements.
Through this process, she cultivates a deeply tactile
relationship with material, gesture, and transformation.
Approaching sculpture through an expressionistic
engagement with the body, Nabhan treats the human figure
as a vessel for psychological and emotional states. May
Nabhan was awarded the “Gallery Prize 2026” for Best
Sculpture. Her work has been exhibited internationally at
prominent cultural and artistic institutions, including the
Grand Egyptian Museum during the seventh edition of Art
Cairo, as well as the 2026 International Art Fair of Bucharest,
presented by KAF Gallery. In Lebanon, her work was featured
at both the Archaeological Museum of the American
University of Beirut and the Lebanese Prehistoric Museum at
Saint Joseph University of Beirut throughout 2025 and 2026.
