Johnny Semaan (b. 1983), is a Beirut-based Syrian artist known for his figurative art exploring themes relating to migration and identity, employing. A graduate of Damascus University (2007) and the Lebanese University (2019), Semaan’s work combines symbolic compositions with vibrant, expressive color.
He has exhibited widely in solo and group shows in Lebanon and across the region, including Four Points (2024) at Majaz Art Gallery, White in Greenwhich Time (2017), Scene from a Distance (2016) at 392Rmeil393, and Colourful Centimeters (2016), and An Incomplete Scene (2014) at Joanna Saikaly Art Gallery.
He is the recipient of the 2019 Boghossian Foundation Prize for Painting. Semaan is also dedicated to art education, having founded the Zografow workshop for children in Latakia (2012-2016).
