Rana Abu Saada
Rana Abou Saada (b. 2000) is a Syrian visual artist born in Suwaida, Syria. She received her B.A. in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Damascus University in 2022, where she specialised in Drawing and Painting. Abou Saada currently lives and works in the United Arab Emirates.
Abou Saada’s practice centers on the human figure, often approached as a symbolic and evolving form rather than a fixed representation. Through drawing and painting, she explores how identity, memory, and personal experience shape the human presence. Her characters frequently appear in states of transformation, where the body becomes a space through which emotions, psychological states, and external influences are expressed.
Working primarily with painting and experimental drawing, Abou Saada’s visual language combines figurative elements with symbolic distortions of the body. Her works often feature simplified forms, unusual proportions, and expressive colour. These characters exist within minimal or ambiguous spaces, allowing the focus to remain on the internal narrative of the figure itself.
Abou Saada has participated in several group exhibitions, including Daw Exhibition (Swaida, 2025), The Gen-Z (Aleppo, 2024), Memories at Marsella Gallery (Damascus, 2024), the Art Festival at Jesuit Beit Alberto (Damascus, 2024), Beyond Colors 3 at Harmony Gallery (Homs, 2023), and Mallva at the Cultural Centre in Damascus (2023). Her work continues to evolve through experimentation with materials, drawing, and sculptural forms that expand her exploration of the human figure.
