مجدي زواهري
Magdie Zawahri is a Palestinian visual artist born in Homs, Syria in 1983. His family were displaced from Safad in the Upper Galilee of Palestine to Syria during the Nakba of 1948.
He graduated from Sobhi Shoaib Centre for Fine Arts in 2009. He has held multiple solo exhibitions starting in 2010 in Syria and Lebanon, and participated in multiple group exhibitions and art residencies in Damascus. His most recent, titled ‘Fuchsia Sundosi’ was held at the Arab Cultural Center in Damascus in 2021.
Zawahri’s visceral artworks are an expressionist rendition of reality in an almost childlike innocence, portraying distinctive figures that take you on an endless colorful journey. They are characters that blend often incongruent feelings and emotions, always in conversation with each other and constantly evoking your curiosity.
